The first dance at your wedding is one of the most significant moments of a bride and groom’s big day. Alongside the walk up the aisle and the kiss at the end of the ceremony, it’s one of the only parts of the day where guests are invited to stop and stare; all eyes will be on you.
First dances are as varied as the couples themselves; some choose to have their first dance under the stars outside while fireworks go off, others like to have their family surround them, dancing. Others put effort into a dance routine, while some, who prefer not to have the spotlight upon them, forego the slow romantic waltz and choose an upbeat song, with everyone invited to the floor from the get go.
Some people know from the minute they book their wedding what their first dance will be, while others haven’t a clue. Some go for a well-known classic while others choose something more modern, a recent chart hit. Occasionally, a quirky little song that means the world to a couple will pop up. Sometimes a couple may not even have a first dance and just start with the band set at normal.
Choosing a first dance can be a bit of an ordeal for some and our advice as a working wedding band is; don’t overthink it. Whatever song is important to you is just as important to us. We always make a great effort to learn and perform the first dance live. It’s amazing for us to be part of creating and capturing that magic moment, just right.
